Little Buffalo PV Installation
In August of 2015 when Melina Laboucan-Massimo, Lubicon Cree from Northern Alberta, called J.Starr Engineering with the scope of leading the structural design and on-site installation of a 20.8 kW PhotoVoltaic Project that was to be mounted about 15ft above grade.
Unforeseen circumstances had left the situation with no design criteria beyond the final specifications of the project. With solid construction knowledge, fabrication experience overnight production/delivery network, and fast-responding service – J.Starr Engineering was able to deliver sound professional advice and on-site leadership to have the project completed on time and only 2 weeks after receiving the call.
As a part of her Masters thesis Melina completed a 20.8 kW solar installation in her home community of Little Buffalo in the heart of the tar sands which powers the health centre. To find out more about Melina and her powerful work.

Anti-Solvent Solventless Extraction
With a budding industry coming to light, there has never been a greater need for interdisciplinary skills regarding the production, storage, peripheral fabrication, theoretical knowledge, and extraction design.
Lindsay Labelle, the cannabis start-up guru and Canadian pioneer that envisioned and created the 1st Canadian Made professionally engineered rosin press, asked J.Starr Engineering to mechanically & structurally design a 25 Ton (50,000 lb) desktop extraction press with heated plates and a PLC touch screen interface with blueprints for mass production, we said no problem.
After 3 iterations, prototype building/design/testing, we came up with the Evolved Cannabis: 25T Guerilla Press. Six months of work in 2017 paid off when the 25T Guerilla Press was debuted at the Vancouver Lift Expo 2018. For more information on Organic Extraction Technologies.
